Solutions Overview

Water challenges require integrated solutions.

No two facilities have exactly the same source water, process conditions, available space, water-quality targets or discharge requirements. GLS develops customized systems by combining proven treatment technologies with practical engineering, manufacturing and operational expertise. Our solutions cover the complete water cycle — from source-water treatment and purification to wastewater reuse and resource recovery.

Water Desalination

Reliable fresh water from seawater and brackish sources.

Freshwater scarcity should not limit the performance or development of your facility. GLS designs and supplies reverse-osmosis desalination systems that convert seawater and brackish water into dependable supplies for drinking, hospitality, industrial processing and other applications.

Customized for the source and application

Our desalination packages are configured around:

  • Raw-water salinity and quality
  • Required production capacity
  • Intended use of the treated water
  • Recovery and energy-efficiency targets
  • Available space
  • Pretreatment requirements
  • Post-treatment and remineralization needs
  • Local operating conditions
Sea Water Reverse Osmosis

SWRO systems treat high-salinity seawater through carefully engineered pretreatment, pressurization, membrane separation, control and post-treatment processes. Applications include coastal resorts, islands, industrial sites, marine facilities and locations with limited freshwater access.

Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis

BWRO systems treat groundwater or other sources with lower salinity than seawater. They can deliver high recovery rates and efficient production when properly matched to the raw-water characteristics.

A complete desalination package
  • Intake and pretreatment
  • Filtration or ultrafiltration
  • Cartridge filtration
  • High-pressure pumping
  • Reverse-osmosis membranes

Better water. Better equipment performance.

Properly integrated treatment can help:

  • Protect downstream assets
  • Extend membrane and equipment life
  • Reduce chemical consumption
  • Improve heat-transfer efficiency
  • Reduce backwash-water demand
  • Maintain production reliability
  • Lower lifecycle operating costs
Wastewater Treatment

Treat wastewater for compliance, reuse and long-term efficiency.

Industrial and municipal wastewater can contain suspended solids, fats, oils, grease, colour, organic matter, microorganisms, dissolved contaminants and other substances that require treatment before discharge or reuse. GLS integrates physical, chemical, biological and membrane processes into systems designed for each wastewater stream.

Treatment capabilities

  • Screening
  • Equalization
  • Coagulation and flocculation
  • Dissolved air flotation
  • Biological treatment
  • Membrane bioreactors
  • Tertiary filtration
  • Sludge thickening
  • Sludge dewatering
  • Disinfection
  • Water reuse
Dissolved Air Flotation

DAF introduces micron-sized bubbles that attach to contaminants and lift them to the surface for removal. The process is particularly effective for suspended solids, fats, oils, grease, colour and algae. It can accelerate separation, reduce space requirements and improve downstream treatment.

Membrane Bioreactors

MBR technology combines biological wastewater treatment with membrane filtration. The process produces high-quality effluent in a compact footprint and is well suited to wastewater recycling in hotels, commercial buildings, municipal systems and industrial facilities.

Water Reuse & Recycling

Turn treated wastewater into a dependable resource.

Water that was once discharged can often be treated for reuse in landscaping, cooling, process applications, cleaning and other non-potable uses. GLS develops reuse systems that reduce freshwater demand, lower discharge volumes and strengthen long-term water security.

A reuse system may integrate biological treatment, membrane filtration, reverse osmosis, disinfection and storage, depending on the intended application.

Resource Recovery

From wastewater treatment to resource recovery.

The future of water infrastructure is not limited to removing contaminants. It includes recovering water, nutrients, salts and energy that would otherwise be lost. GLS works toward a circular model in which wastewater becomes a source of useful materials and reclaimed water.

Recovery opportunities

Our engineers assess the technical and commercial potential of recovery as part of the broader treatment process.

Sludge Treatment

Reduce sludge volume and simplify handling.

Sludge treatment is an essential part of efficient wastewater operations. GLS supplies thickening and dewatering systems designed to reduce sludge volume before transport, disposal or further processing.

Sludge Thickening

Our enclosed thickening systems reduce volume prior to dewatering. They are designed for straightforward operation, reliable performance and cleaner working conditions.

Sludge Dewatering

GLS dewatering units remove water from sludge to make it easier and more cost-effective to handle, transport and dispose of. Applications include municipal and industrial wastewater-treatment facilities.
